About 80by15.com

80by15.com is a site that brings advertising and art together in the space of 80 by 15 pixels. The goal of this site is three-fold:

  1. To help websites advertise and draw in traffic to increase traffic with a great return on investment.
  2. To allow websites the chance to show off their artistic abilities by creating an image in the same amount of space as the other advertisers. The more interesting your ad image is the more clicks you may receive.
  3. To help everyone involved. Advertisers are given the chance to drawn in more traffic. 80by15.com is given the chance to explore a new marketing strategy for future projects. And visitors to our website are given the chance to find new and interesting links in a non-traditional way.


Why 80 by 15 pixels?

Deciding on the size of the advertising image was a daunting task in itself. The idea was to combine the creativity involved in advertising and in art in a way to challenge people. There are a number of sites out there which sell pixels so the more money you have to spend the more ad space you can have. The same goes with placing traditional banners on websites. The more money you can spend the better your chances are at landing your ad on a major site.

Limiting the size of the ad image allows us to do a number of things...

  1. The same size and cost puts every site on equal footing. If your advertising budget is large or small everyone will have the same amount of space to work with.
  2. Sizes larger than 80 by 15 pixels are easier to fit more information into. Sizes smaller than 80 by 15 pixels become too small to notice and work with.
  3. The size also allows us to keep file size lower which will decrease the load time for the pages. Meaning that the ads won't take forever to load.

Another important factor for the image size is our love for the 80 by 15 button. Commonly used among bloggers the image has caught our attention and our hearts. Larger banners tend to overtake the feel of websites and can distract visitors where as the smaller button almost blends in with the website.


Charity

For each category that we fully fill up, 80by15.com will hold a raffle for the advertisers of that category. The winner of the raffle will be selected at random by a luck-of-the-draw, pull a name out of a hat, selection process. The winner will then be contacted and asked to which charity they would like to have money donated to in their name (or as an anonymous donor). The raffle prize per category breaks down as follows:

Gold Ads: $11,000
Silver Ads: $7,000
Bronze Ads: $3,000

Our major goal for this site is to fill up every available ad space (3240 of them). When we finally reach that goal an additional $79,000 will be donated to the March of Dimes (which is the charity of our choice).


How will the charity raffle winners be picked?

When we successfully fill up an entire category we will place all 900 name from that category into a hat and have an outside party pick five (5) names. The winner will be the first name chosen and they will be contacted via the email address that we have on file. They will be given one (1) week to reply to us. In the event we do not hear from the person after that one (1) week is up we will move on to the second name chosen and follow the same method until we successfully contact someone or we have worked our way though all five (5) picked names. If it happens that all five (5) names have not responded to us within the allotted time frame, 80by15.com will donate the money to a charity of our choice.

Please keep in mind that if we do not hear from you within the week after we contacted you, you waive your right to pick the charity that the money will be donated to. We apologize if you feel that the one (1) week time limit is too short, but we would really like to be able to donate the money to a charity as soon as possible.
